Mark Ellis Tipton is a 50-year veteran of the real estate industry. Mark has excelled in representing his community, his state, and his nation in various leadership positions in the housing industry. He is an honoree of the prestigious induction into both the National Housing Hall of Fame and the North
Carolina Housing Hall of Fame. He has served as President of the World's Largest Trade Organization the National Association of Home Builders and served as the President of the North Carolina Home Builders Association.
Mr. Tipton is an unlimited General Contractor and a Licensed Broker in the state of North Carolina. His expertise in housing includes Single & Multifamily Construction, Single Family and Multifamily Development, Single family and Multifamily Development Financing of both Affordable and Market Rate Housing. Tipton is a second-generation builder/developer. Mark Tipton and Tipton's family is synonymous with housing beginning a residential construction company in the early 1960's. Tipton started his career working for his father in the family business digging foundations with a shovel and working his way up to framing houses and trimming houses after school with his brother. Continuing to serve as a laborer and then to management while continuing his Education he earned his History and Urban and Regional Planning degree from East Carolina University. He also served in the United States Navy. While working with Tipton Builders Mark was elected as the youngest President of the North Carolina Home Builders Association and served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency.
In 1981 Tipton started his own company in Raleigh NC. His first subdivision was Hunters Creek Townhomes on Kent and Kaplan Dr. He bought the land, did the planning, arranged the financing, built 251 condominiums and sold the townhomes during the period that the interest rates were over 20%. This was the beginning of his own company and he has never looked back nor has he ever not looked out for his fellow man. He has developed several billions of dollars of property all over Raleigh and the southeast including subdivisions such as Durant Trails, Windsor Forest, Bent Tree, Crossgate, Grande Villas, Bricklanding, Brighton Pointe Senior Housing, Sunnybrook Apartments, Alderbrook Pointe Apartments, Winslow Pointe Apartments, Development/partner in The Edison
Apartments in downtown Raleigh NC and The Lofts 135 Apartments in Charlotte, NC and many others.
Over the span of his career he has served on many Boards of Directors and been active in the Home Builders Associations, Planning organizations, the Mortgage Round table and the National Association of Realtors. He loves to be able to provide Affordable housing to the people of
America and his voice is recognized and heard in many housing circles throughout the world. His commitment to provide safe, decent and affordable housing is evident in his history of the industry and while he has accomplished many things, he continues to focus his career in developing more affordable housing for the people of North Carolina and America.
